Risk and Opportunities in the New Normal
by annemiek van rooij
In a changing world, we find ourselves looking to adjust to new realities. These changes can shift our priorities, budgets and ways of thinking. This also applies to our insurance needs. Let us zoom in on some of the questions you should consider from an insurance perspective in this new reality.
Does my travel insurance still provide coverage if I choose to travel to a country that is not on the “approved travel list”?
What are the direct financial consequences for those that depend on me if I were to die unexpectedly?
Are my health insurance and proof of insurance (insurance card or mobile app) up to date?
Is there a greater risk of burglary due to the change of economic circumstances and does my insurance cover the current value of my possessions?
Do I have policies that are overlapping in coverage? Perhaps I can save on my premium?
Does another insurance provide a lower premium for equal or better coverage?
Does my insurance provide leniency on payments during and after the Covid period? If so, what are the conditions?
Is there an insurance that can cover economic losses such as the losses that happened during the Covid period? What can I do to prepare?
And for entrepreneurs; what happens to my income when I can’t work due to sickness?
When asking yourself this question please keep in mind that all insurance polices can be different. Insurance companies can also decide based on new experiences, like a pandemic, to change their policy on future offered products.
Keep yourself informed and your family protected. Don’t hesitate to ask your insurance company or broker these important questions and make adjustments where necessary.
It’s your life and your future.
